Some pediatric experts state that baby bumpers can cause crib death while others suggest them to be completely safe especially since they help the baby keep his or her arms and limbs from getting caught in between the crib slats and out of harm’s way.

Make sure the bumper you select is thin, securely tied to the crib and permits the air to circulate well, and when baby can stand up in the crib, you know it’s time to get rid of the bumpers since most baby’s will use the bumpers to climb out of the crib.
